Ford has issued another recall for faulty door latches which can fail to secure a door leading to its possibly coming open while the vehicle is being driven.
This common part has a common problem which is if the latch clasp falls closed while the door or item is open the latch will not work.
December 15 2016 2 pm i have this problem every winter with the drivers door on my 06 ford taurus not closing when its very cold but usually when the car warms up it works well yesterday it didn t and today either and i let the car warm up 10 minutes.

It is not the usual problem of the latch being stuck in the lock position and needing to be unlatched with a screwdriver.
It will not engage and lock the door.
The temperatures was only zero degrees celsius at most last night and the windscreen of the car was not frozen.

If the door latches after repeated attempts to shut it there is potential for the door to unlatch while driving increasing the risk of injury ford stated.
All of the sudden the door will not close.
I can lean against the door and hold it shut and pree the remote lock on my key and the alarm sets and al the doors loc except this one you can walk up to the door and just open t.
Maybe just being able to get at it and properly lubricate it may help.
