You start by setting the ignition switch to off before using a new key in the ignition and setting it to on. Programming is now complete. Remove the intelligent access key. Push down and release the brake pedal once.

Once the new key is inserted you can then proceed to switch it from off to on. It unlocks the door to let you in and allows you to start the engine using the push button start feature if equipped. Remove the intelligent access key. Ford escape you must have two previously programmed intelligent access keys inside the vehicle and the new unprogrammed intelligent access keys readily accessible.

If programming was not successful wait 10 seconds and repeat steps 1 through 7. Make sure the ignition switch is off before you insert a new key into it. To complete this process click on okay. Have your unprogrammed intelligent access key in the center console pocket and keep two previously programmed keys inside the vehicle. If two previously programmed keys are not available you must take your vehicle to your authorized dealer to have the spare key s programmed. Once you press okay you can now do the same for the second key to complete the process.

Within 10 seconds place a second programmed intelligent access key in the middle of the tray. You can now go ahead and program two keys and to do so you will use the ignition key programming option. Place the first programmed intelligent access key in the middle of the tray. If so the following instructions will walk you through the process.

Switch the ignition off and remove the first coded key from the ignition. Press the push button ignition switch.
